What are the characteristics of Chenin wines?

There are notes of white flowers on the nose, as well as fruit aromas such as lemon, pear and quince.

Chenin expresses itself differently depending on the terroir. It's a refined, subtle grape variety with a fine balance between liveliness and roundness. The rich, expressive dry white wine of the Loire is characterised by its full texture, complex aromas of ripe fruit, sometimes with toasty notes, and a long finish.

What food and wine pairings go well with these Loire white wines?

Rich, expressive Loire white wines are the perfect accompaniment to fish in sauce, white meats, cheese platters and citrus desserts.

Why do these dry white wines have such aromatic complexity?

The rich, expressive dry white wines of the Loire owe their complexity to a number of factors: the diversity of soils (schist, tufa, flinty clay, etc.), the variety of terroirs (on hillsides or alluvial plains) and climates or micro-climates (oceanic or semi-continental) and the optimum ripeness of the grapes at harvest time.

This combination produces an intense range of aromas, combining ripe fruit, floral and mineral notes, sometimes with a hint of honey or spice.
