The 2023 vintage in a nutshell

The 2023 vintage in the Loire Valley was marked by contrasting climatic conditions, testing the resilience and know-how of winegrowers. Between canicular episodes and periods of persistent humidity, precise vine management was essential to preserve the balance and typicity of Loire wines. The harvest began in intense heat at the end of August, followed by a stormy cycle requiring rigorous grape selection. Despite these challenges, this vintage offers fresh, fruity and well-balanced wines, representative of the diversity of the Loire terroirs.

White wines: preserved freshness and strong character

The white wines of the 2023 vintage feature remarkable tension and pronounced freshness, attributable to increased malic acid preservation. TheMelon de Bourgogne produced lively Muscadets with citrus and white-fleshed fruit aromas. The Sauvignons, harvested early, are characterized by fruity intensity and marked minerality. Despite heterogeneous ripeness from plot to plot, careful selection has produced well-balanced, expressive whites with good ageing potential.

Red wines: silky tannins and delicate fruitiness

Thereds of 2023 showed contrasting ripeness, influenced by episodes of heat and humidity. The cabernet franc, well established in the region, produced wines with supple tannins and crisp red fruit aromas. Careful vinification preserved a nice roundness and an interesting balance between freshness and aromatic concentration.

Rosé wines: balance between liveliness and ripeness

The rosés de Loire from the 2023 vintage reveal a fine balance between sugar and acidity, enhanced by a heatwave in early September that favored optimal ripeness in the dedicated grape varieties. These wines are characterized by fresh red fruit aromas, a gourmet palate and a liveliness typical of Loire rosés. Their aromatic intensity and freshness make them seductive cuvées, in line with previous vintages.

Fines Bulles: elegance and aromatic freshness

The sparkling wines of the 2023 vintage display a beautiful fruity expression, with notes of green apple, pear and well-preserved acidity. The early harvest of Chardonnays and Pinots Noirs destined for Crémant de Loire has produced a lively, well-balanced base, conducive to elegant, airy fine bubbles. This vintage, despite its challenges, produces refined, well-structured effervescents dominated by freshness.

With very satisfactory overall quality and characteristic freshness, the 2021 vintage of Loire wines fits in perfectly with the region's tradition.
