Vintage wines

1990

Perfection at every level

If 1990 could be summed up in one word, it would be ‘harmony’. Everything was perfect this year: warm weather without excess, plenty of rain when it was needed, and a sunny harvest. The whites, especially the Sauvignon, were brilliant, with notes of citrus, white-fleshed fruit and good tension. The reds combine power and elegance, with aromas of black fruit, spices and liquorice. The sweet wines, particularly in Anjou, are simply sumptuous, with a sweetness perfectly balanced by vibrant acidity.

1997

The triumph of sweet wines

1997 was the year of the sweet wines, and what a triumph it was! A dry autumn allowed a late harvest, which was ideal for noble rot. The result: sweet wines such as Quarts de Chaume and Coteaux du Layon explode with flavour. They have rich notes of candied fruit, honey and sweet spices. Over time, these wines take on more complex aromas of dried fruit, caramel and even a hint of saffron. Lovers of sweet wines are still dreaming of this vintage.

2002

Perfect balance, finally recognised

2002 was not destined to be an exceptional year. The start of the year was complicated, with a wet spring and difficult flowering. But the summer made up for it, providing ideal conditions for the grapes to ripen slowly. The result: wines of exceptional purity. The whites are taut and precise, with aromas of white flowers and citrus fruit. The reds, on the other hand, are bursting with fruit, supported by fine tannins. Over the years, the aromas evolve towards notes of undergrowth and sweet spices. A vintage that is often underestimated, but which shines with age.

2005

Generosity

2005 is often described as a ‘sunny’ vintage, but without the heaviness that might imply. The hot summer allowed the grapes to concentrate well, while maintaining the freshness that is essential for balance. The whites, particularly those from Chenin, are rich, with aromas of ripe fruit and a saline minerality that makes them exciting to taste. The reds are powerful, with notes of black fruit, cocoa and structured tannins. A vintage that promises great ageing potential for those with the patience to wait.

2010

Freshness and tension

2010 was a cooler year, marked by late ripening, but the wait paid off. This year's Loire wines are incredibly precise. The whites are taut, almost chiselled, with lively aromas of citrus fruit, white flowers and fine acidity. The reds have more finesse than power, with notes of fresh red fruit, white pepper and elegant tannins. With age, these wines gain in complexity while retaining their characteristic freshness. A year that will delight lovers of well-balanced wines.

2015

Sunshine and concentration

The generous sunshine in 2015 ripened the grapes to perfection. This year's whites are rich, almost exuberant, with notes of tropical fruit and pear and a lovely acidity that keeps them lively on the palate. The reds are deep and concentrated, with aromas of ripe black fruit, chocolate and a hint of spice. The 2015 sweet wines are also exceptional, with a lovely sweetness counterbalanced by an acidity that gives them great freshness. It's a year made for laying down.

2018

Abundance and excellence

2018 offered generous yields, but also exceptional quality. Everything came together this year: sun, heat, and just the right amount of rain to balance it all out. The whites are brilliant, with tropical fruit aromas and remarkable freshness despite the richness of the year. The reds, made from Cabernet Franc, are fleshy, with ripe tannins and aromas of red fruit and spices. Even the 2018 mellow wines are superb, with notes of honey, apricot and a long finish.
