The gourmet version of the Loire!

Ah, the sweetness of the Loire vineyards... Here, sweet and syrupy white wines are a real invitation to taste.

Over-ripe or botrytised harvests (the famous ‘noble rot’), everything comes together to sublimate the Chenin Blanc, which reveals generous aromas of honey, candied apricots and exotic fruit. A nectar indeed, but always with a hint of Loire freshness to balance it all out. Gourmet wines... that are easy to digest!

What is the difference between a sweet wine and a syrupy wine?

A sweet wine contains less residual sugar than a liquoreux, which is more concentrated (‘syrupy’) and intense on the palate.

What desserts to serve with sweet and syrupy Loire wines?

The sweet and syrupy wines of the Loire go very well with fruit tarts and white chocolate desserts.

How does botrytis affect these wines?

Botrytis cinerea, also known as ‘noble rot’, plays a key role in the production of sweet white wines from the Loire. Under certain climatic conditions (morning fog followed by sunny days, for example), this fungus develops on the grapes, encouraging them to dehydrate and concentrating the sugars and aromas.

The result? Wines of great complexity, with intense notes of honey, candied apricot, exotic fruit and sweet spices, enhanced by a natural acidity that balances their richness. This unique process gives rise to exceptional vintages that will stand the test of time.
