Domaine de Fiervaux

Domaine de Fiervaux grew out of a family business with 4 ha of vines in the Saumur region, taken over in 1890 by Henri Maitreau. 40 years later, his son Jules succeeded him, constantly improving the vineyard. In 1960, Georges Cousin and his wife Juliette Maitreau, daughter of Jules, took over the reins and developed the estate. This is the origin of the name Cousin-Maitreau. In 1992, Georges Cousin and his children created the SCEA Cousin-Maitreau to ensure the estate's continuity. Our vineyard covers 38 ha, including 14 ha in the Anjou appellation and 24 ha in the Saumur appellation. The specificity of the clay-limestone and schist terroir is fully expressed in the wide variety of wines, all made from the same grape varieties: Cabernet, Chenin, Chardonnay and Sauvignon. This palette of grape varieties, unique in the world, offers a highly diversified and expressive range of AOCs.
