Gros Plant du Pays Nantais

Nantais

The Gros-Plant du Pays Nantais is the most oceanic and the most Nantais of the Loire Valley wines. Clustered around the city of Nantes, it extends more particularly on its western flank, towards the Atlantic, to the south towards Lake Grand-Lieu and to the east towards Vallet. The soils of this appellation, recognized as AOC since 2011, are very varied: they are composed of gneiss, gabbros, micaschists, amphibolites and green rocks.
The Gros-plant du Pays Nantais reflects its proximity to the ocean: it is acidic, iodized and lemony. Its color is pale, with light green (even if the grapes are ripe) and golden highlights. Its aromas are very fine: floral notes, green shoots, grapefruit and lemon. Aged on lees, it becomes fuller, rounder and more complex, but retains its lively, fresh character. To respect its personality, it's best served well chilled, between 8 and 11°C.
