IGP Val de Loire

Auvergne / Centre-Loire / Nantais / Anjou-Saumur / Touraine / Vallée du Loir / Haut-Poitou

The Protected Geographical Indication is a European sign of origin and quality that testifies to a wine's attachment to a given territory. The area in which the grapes are grown and the wine made is strictly defined: for the Val de Loire PGI, this means that 100% of the grapes come from the geographical area defined in the specifications. The Indication Géographique Protégée (Protected Geographical Indication) replaced the "Vins de Pays" label in 2009, marking the qualitative improvement of these wines through European and national recognition of winegrowers' know-how. Today, there are 75 PGI production zones spread across all the wine-growing regions of France.
