Origins

History

The presence of Noble-Joué is attested at the court of King Louis XI. At the height of its fame in the 19th century, the vineyard applied for AOC status in 1939, but the outbreak of war put the matter to rest. Partly destroyed, then nibbled away by urbanization, the vineyard died out until 1975, when it was revived by a group of winegrowers. It has now regained its success on Touraine tables.
