The vineyards of the Loire span approximately 57,000 hectares, covering 14 departments from Vendée to Puy-de-Dôme… making the Loire the 3rd largest wine region in France! The Loire wines cover 42,000 hectares from Nantes to Vendôme, passing through Angers, Saumur, and Tours.
The Loire Wine Route. This 800-kilometre route takes in some of the Loire's most remarkable estates and royal châteaux, from Chinon to Chenonceaux... all while discovering the wines of the Loire Valley.
Loire wines can be found in all 4 colours: white wine, red wine, rosé wine and sparkling wine. The terroirs of Loire wines stretch from Nantes to Clermont-Ferrand. Loire wines are made up of 34 AOPs and the Val de Loire PGI.
